What I learned from "Schooling the world" is that some people condemn contemporary education as the way to mold humankind into industrial consumers, which only benefits the industrial countries in the west. In addition, this education system is seen to cause a number of things to disappear. The way in which people in the village used to carry out their living in the village and tasks on their farm has changed and their surrounding environment has gradually altered without bouncing back to their original conditions. Students leave their parents and village for education in the city and never want to come back to their village to follow in their parent's footsteps. Grown-up adults leave their village for a better-paid job outside of their village. On top of these changes, local customs, as well as language, are not practiced and spoken, instead, they start to fade away over time. To make things worse, the school in the documentary is not trying its best to preserve the local customs and languages each student brings with them, and sustainability is not included in their curriculum.
